Bicycles, Motorcycles, Segways, Quadbikes, and Tuk-Tuks!
The Costa del Sol is by no means small, and all of it is beautiful, so nobody expects to explore it all on foot. The public transport available on the Costa del Sol is mostly in the form of buses and trains makes it possible to take day trip away to other areas, but for sightseeing and exploring the region these are of little use! Its gorgeous Mediterranean climate and beautiful coastal landscapes make it the kind of place that is just heaven to explore, but you can see very little on visits there if you’re just strolling about! The weather makes it so that you want the fresh air too, and to be able to see everything freely without being constrained to a car or bus seat! This coastal region in the South of Spain really is a joy to tour in.
But luckily, the Costa del Sol has a whole range of some of the coolest tours I’ve seen, everything from from bicycles to adorably tiny Tuk-Tuks, so there is definitely something for everyone on this selection, ranging from the interesting and relaxing, to the exciting and adventurous! So I’ve decided to do a roundup of 5 of my favourite tours in the Costa del Sol, all through different modes of transport!
City tours don’t have to be done sat on the back of the bus or by being slowly walked around the city by a tour guide! Often while on holiday, many people may not feel they have the time for a full walking tour, or perhaps even have the energy, so touring the city of Malaga on a bicycle is perhaps the perfect alternative! There isn’t a better way to see the main sights and discover the rich history of Malaga than on a bike tour! Kay Farrell’s Malaga BikeTours are guided bicycle tours through the city of Malaga. They also organise a bicycle route along the gorgeous Guadalhorceestuary with stops at the bird watching locations. The second tour goes to lesser-known sights led by an in-the-know guide, so it’s up to you which you think would be more up your street! Both tours routes takes about 4 hours, and they really are just a lovely and relaxing way of seeing the city as well as the beautiful lesser known parts outside the centre, without having to trek about the place and exhaust yourself! :)
The tours are really professionally done and the guides are all really fantastic, all friendly, informative and helpful. The bikes are really comfortable, and the tours are pretty flat throughout the routes so it’s not too challenging and it’s run at a good place so there is plenty of opportunity to rest and soak in the sunny sights! One of my favourite things about these sort of half-day tours is that you have hours left in the day to go off and explore on your own before you have to head back to wherever you’re staying! It’s a really efficient way of making the best use of that precious time while on holidays, and getting the most out of it!
But for those who prefer something a bit more mechanical, this might be for you!
LetsRide Spain do all sorts of motorcycle tours. They provide guided off-road motorcycle trail tours for all abilities of riders in what can only be described as an offroad heaven. The reviews on Tripadvisor for this company are possibly, if not probably, the most positive I’ve ever seen anything that’s been reviewed on the website, as LetsRide Spain are exclusively rated 5 stars.
Based 10 minutes inland from Fuengirola and 25 minutes from Malaga/Marbella on the Costa del Sol, they provide a variety of options to cater for everything from the curious riders new to the trail or the experienced off road riders. They offer 1, 2, 3 & 4 day tours with accommodation, with group sizes up to a maximum of 6 riders per tour, so it really is a perfect adventure under the Spanish sun to undertake with friends!
Segway Malaga Tours
For those looking for something a little more laid back and relaxed however, you might be interested in trying a Segway tour!
These1 or 2-hour Segway Malaga Tours can be found in most cities that get a lot of tourists these days, but they really are something you have to try at least once! it’s a real interesting and chill way of seeing the sights without spending more time and energy than you need to soak it all in! These tours enable you to enjoy a Segway tour of Malaga with an expert local guide. You’ll be able to witness the grand (but famously unfinished) Malaga Cathedral, which really is a sight to behold. You’ll also get to see top city attractions like the Alcazaba Citadel, and Museo Picasso, where you can learn about the famous artist’s life and visit his place of birth! They also do upgrades to two-hour tours which mean you’ll be able to visit Castillo de Gibralfaro and Malaga’s Promenade so you can take in the fresh Costa Del Sol breeze in style! :D
Nerja Quad Tours
When two wheels is not enough, you might want to do a tour in the Costa del Sol on four, with these quad tours!
These pretty awesome Nerja Quad Tours provide tourists with a chance to explore the real Spanish countryside on their professional scenic guided tours. Their two-seater quad-bikes are safe and will ensure an enjoyable day for all. :) On these tours you’ll be able to take in the the amazing views of Frigilliana, Nerja, Torrox and Competa. There really is no better way to see the beautiful countryside of Andalucia than on a quad bike, it really is a unique method of exploring the countryside. The tours are really great because they’re tailored to suit you the needs of the different visitors, be they a family or friends, younger or older, without skimping out on the fun. These tours are certainly a safer more relaxing alternative to the more adventurous motorcycles, but these Nerja Quad Tours will ensure you get an exciting day out in the Spanish countryside and see the beautiful mountains and countryside of the Costa Del Sol. Their quads are 250cc automatic quads, that will comfortably seat two people (2 x adults or one adult + child), and by the end of the day you’ll have a load of really cool photo’s of the beautiful views that Andalucia has to show you! :D
Tuk Tuk Spain
And finally, for those looking for something a little different…
Tuk Tuk Spain run tours on their that allow you toenjoy a guided panoramic tour of Mijas in much more eco-friendlythan the usual, electric tuk tuks! These tuk-tuks are100% silent and very cute, and really let you discover all the hidden secrets of the village of Mijas in a really unique way. Touring from a silent tuk-tuk offers a completely different point of view, as they’re not as intrusive as most other modes of transport would be, and so let you experience what you’re touring in a much more natural way! :)
The tour takes visitors through the historical center of the old town, and visits parts of Mijas Pueblo that most tourists would never get the chance to see! :D The tour also brings you to one of the most beautiful views of the Costa del Sol, the panoramic viewpoint of the region from the scenic top road of the village. The photos you take home from this tour really are just something else, and I really recommend it. You’ll get excellent views of the village, the Mediterranean coastline and even the coast of Africa or the Rock of Gibraltar on a very clear day. The drivers are all really friendly and are in the know about all the well-kept secrets of the village, and bring their tours to the hidden corners of Mijas!! :) A tour on a tuk-tuk alone isan unforgettable and unique experience, but the nature of this tour makes it an extra special experience!
The tour itself isn’t too long so it’s definitely practical to fit into the rest of your stay! It’s a real experience and I highly recommend it.
