‘From the cocoon emerges a beautiful butterfly’….This is probably the most appropriate way to describe the feeling you have after experiencing a day of luxurious and lavish spa treatments. The overwhelming sense of refreshment and rejuvenation is something that you nearly cannot put a price on.
I’m an avid believer in the mantra that everyone should treat themselves to a little bit of downtime every now and then. After all, it’s important to not let that stress get the better of you, and sometimes you just need a break from your usual 9 – 5 routine and fall in love all over again in the smaller things in life. However there are so many different spa hotels that claim to be the best on our humble little island that it can be a little hard to know where to start – but not everybody can hold that title of course! I have decided to remove a lot of the pretenders and compile a list of gems that are too good to miss and will be sure to leave you feeling like a brand new person! So here you go, in no particular order, the top ten best spa hotels in Ireland…Enjoy!
Nestled in a breathtaking estate in the Wicklow Mountains, this beautiful Powerscourt Hotel (4.5/5 on Tripadvisor) promises nothing but exuberant luxury. The gorgeous location means that you can simply leave behind the hustle and bustle of modern life. Enjoy views of the mist snaking its way across the hill tops as you bathe in the Swarovski crystal-lit pool.
If you want to soak up some 5* luxury, then you just can’t go wrong with the Castlemartyr Resort (4.5/5 on Tripadvisor)! Stocking high-end spa products from ESPA and Germaine de Capuccini, the spa here is absolutely huge and the special offers geared specifically for spa breaks are the cherry on top!
Fota Island (4/5 on TripAdvisor) is famous all over Ireland – and for good reason too. Your well-being is all the staff care about from the first second you walk through their doors until the sad moment when you have to leave. They offer a huge range with up to sixty treatments to choose from. So pick whichever, relax and enjoy this hotel and its amazing natural surroundings.
The Monart is an institution and if you ask me, the best you can get in Ireland! The five-star Monart spa hotel is decorated in an extremely lush and modern way. The happy vibes and modern spa facilities will have you riding a wave of positivity throughout the whole duration of your stay. Needless to say, it has a fantastic rating on TripAdvisor and has managed to get 4.5 out of 5. This hotel really is a fantastic option for a short break.
The reputation of the Druids Glen Resort (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor) is second to none. They were the winner of the Best Facial 2014 at the RSVP awards and I can tell you on good authority that they are definitely full value for that accomplishment. Your face will feel ten years younger and you will be left feeling fabulous. The best thing is that this is only the tip of the iceberg, with so many other amazing spa treatments and facilities available for you to spoil yourself with! :)
If it’s cutting edge luxury you want, then the Seafield Hotel & Spa Resort (4/5 on Tripadvisor) is the place to be. Having racked up the title of European Residential Spa of the Year several times, the Oceo Spa dedicates itself to pursuing the feeling of suaimhneas – “a silent sense of contentedness; tranquility”. Now doesn’t that just sound like pure bliss?!
7. Lough Eske Castle, a Solis Hotel & Spa, Co. Donegal
Lough Eske Castle (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor) is the perfect place to reclaim your mind, focus only on yourself and remember that life can always be better than it is. They really do have a world class spa in the Spa Solis and the beautifully picturesque surroundings are the ultimate place to gather your thoughts and bring your life back to a pace that you control. And what could be better than being pampered in a castle?!
If you want to combine a proper pamering with some pristine nature, then off with you to the Park Kenmare (4.5/5 on Tripadvisor). On top of all the modern, chic spa facilities, it’s the absolutely gorgeous infinity pool that backs out onto the peaceful forests that really does it for me. I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s nothing short of magical!
What better place to retreat to for a seaside escape than the Cliff House Hotel! With a rating of 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor, this luxury hotel boasts a dramatic setting perched right on the cliffs. As your pamper yourself rotten you can enjoy picture-perfect views of the Irish Sea stretching out to the horizon.
If Kerry is the Kingdown, then the Parknasilla Resort & Spa (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor) is definitely its crown jewel. As their philosophy states, the primary goal is ‘Wellness inspired by Nature’. Aside from the endless array of amazing treatments you could subject yourself to, the stunning lakeside views will be enough alone to completely reinvigorate and leave you with a warm feeling inside.
As a country, we compromise our happiness time after time for one reason or another. You really should not need an excuse to treat yourself to a break in one of these high-class locations.
