Star Wars Hotels – The force is strong with these hotels
“These hotels, you must look at!” That’s exactly what Yoda told me and of course I have to share with you my Jedi knowledge about these hotels that look like popular places in the Star Wars galaxy! :)
In 1977, a story about a galaxy far, far away started a huge phenomenon, enthralling fans for decades. It all started with Episode IV – A New Hope, and considering Disney has taken over the rights for Star Wars, the hype about the Skywalkers doesn’t look it will stop any time soon! Episode VII – The Force Awakensis still breaking records in the cinemas and besides that, Episode VIII and Episode IX (and a few spin-offs) are already planned to be released in the next couple of years.
It’s a really exciting time for any Star Wars fan out there and what would be a better surprise, than staying in a hotel that looks just like a treehouse on Endor, or in a hotel that has a space suite that looks like a bed room on a star destroyer?! Check out these fabulous hotels below!
Star Wars Hotels – The force is strong with these hotels
Dar Hi Nefta – Sleep like Luke Skywalker on Tatooine
Tatooine has always been an important place in the Star Wars galaxy – it is the planet where Anakin Skywalker A.K.A Darth Vader used to live and later, Luke Skywalker. There’s a dried out salt lake in the south west of Tunisia that was used as the original filming location in Star Wars. Tourists can visit Chott el Djerd, or should I say ‘Mos Espa’ – the spaceport settlement on Tatooine.
I would recommend you to stay at the Dar Hi Neftawhich boasts a great rating of 5/5 on TripAdvisor and is currently a Travellers’ Choice Winner. The hotel is a mixture of a B&B and a boutique hotel, and is an excellent choice when enjoying a luxurious break on Tatooine… I mean, Tunisia :D
Aqua Dome Tirol Therme Längenfeld – the ultimate Hoth experience
Did you know that Hoth was the worst defeat of the rebels against the Empire? I’m sure they would have won that battle, if they would have relaxed in the beautiful thermal spring Aqua Dome Tirol Therme Längenfeld(4.5/5 on TripAdvisor + Certificate of Excellence) in Austria. There’s a large outdoor spa area, saunas, beauty treatments and much more spa facilities that will give you the ultimate relaxation experience. Besides the amazing spa opportunities, you will be able to enjoy stunning views of the Öztal Alps and all rooms feature an elegant design.
If you need to convince your partner to go here, use a Jedi mind trick and show them these pictures and tell them how relaxed you both will be after such a wonderful stay! ;-)
Extra tidbit.. the original filming location of the Hoth battle is the glacier Hardangerjøkulen, close to Finse in Norway.
People either hate or love them… (I definitely love ’em) the Ewoks, the species living on Endor. These little furry creatures helped the Rebel Alliance to fight against the Empire, and live in tree houses high above the ground. If you’re not sure what the Ewoks look like, just think of a teddy bear that has come to life! :)
The Treehotel Harads(4.5/5 on TripAdvisor + Travellers’ Choice Award) in Sweden offers you the opportunity to sleep in extraordinary tree houses in the middle of the woods, that will definitely remind you of the setting of Endor. These tree houses are around 4 up to 6 metres above the ground, offering amazing views of river Lule. The rooms are modern and chic, and there’s also an ‘UFO-room’ with enough space for the whole family. Book you must here >>
Belvedere Grindelwald – Sleep like family Organa on Alderaan
Of course, Star Wars fans will know what happened to planet of Alderaan in Episode IV – A New Hope, but let’s be grateful that the Death Star is not real and the “real Alderaan” still exists… the filming location in the Bernese Alps! The famous Eiger mountain was the location used in Episode III- Revenge of the Sith, where Princess Leia was raised by Breha and Bail Organa.
At the bottom of this mountain you can also find Belvedere Grindelwald(4.5/5 on TripAdvisor + Travellers’ Choice Award). This 4-star hotel offers panoramic views of the Eiger and features relaxing spa facilities like a hot tub, a Finnish sauna, a steam bath and an outdoor saltwater hot tub in the garden. Treat yourself well and enjoy this beautiful setting.
Grand Vanvitelli – Sleep like queen Amidala on Naboo
The Grand Vanvitelli(4/5 on TripAdvisor) is a historic building boasting luxurious rooms with minibars and private balconies. The hotel is located in Caserta, Italy which makes it also a great base to explore Naples and Pompeii, both around 30 minutes’ drive away. The outdoor pool of the Grand Vanvitelli is surrounded by lush gardens with fountains. The luxurious interior is a tribute to the Italian architect Luigi Vanvitelli and I’m sure you’ll feel like a king or queen, the moment you enter this hotel! This is your chance to sleep like queen Amidala!
Pengheng Space Capsules Hotel – sleep like a Stormtrooper
This hotel looks like it comes directly from outer space! It hasn’t been used anywhere in the Star Wars films, but I can perfectly imagine that the accommodation of the Stormtroopers must look like this :) The Pengheng Space Capsules Hotel in China (of course it had to be China! ;-) ) boasts an excellent 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and you will be spending your night in a ‘capsule.’
This hotel has almost every futuristic gimmick you can think of: the capsules are equipped with high-speed Wi-fi, flat screens, many modern devices and the interior consists of purple light and metallic surfaces. My absolute favourite part about this hotel? The waitresses in the restaurant are robots, meaning you will get your food and drinks served by a robot! Amazing!
Kameha Grand Zürich – a bed room on a Star Destroyer
Darth Vader would be either extremely proud or extremely jealous of this outstanding contemporary architecture. The Kameha Grand Zürich(4.5/5 on TripAdvisor) is just a 6-minute-drive from Zurich airport and represents an overall stylish concept. All rooms and suites play with colours and structural design, but this suite is in its own league above the rest. The Space Suite has a hovering bed, a floor with high-resolution images from the Hubble telescope, lamps that look like space-shuttle rockets and there are many pictures of astronauts and galaxies. This creates an incredibly exciting atmosphere and gives you the impression that you’re actually in space…just like on a star destroyer!
