It is always a good idea to take some time off with your loved one and spend a romantic couple of days together. Rainy weather makes it easy to cuddle up at home, light the fire and enjoy a nice evening with a glass of wine, but it sure is something else to treat yourself to a wonderful break away from home. Where to find the most romantic hotels in Ireland, though? I have crawled the web to come up with a great list of my top romantic Irish hotels…

How to find the most romantic hotel in Ireland?

They are scattered all over the country, but of course, there are extra romantic places in Ireland like Kerry and Westcork, where the beauty of nature gives your romantic getaway that special something… For some, a spa is a must for a couple’s break, which I can understand as a lazy afternoon in the spa area lets you unwind and relax from a hectic routine. However, I have also made sure that these hotels have amazing restaurants on-site so that you can end your day in some lovely atmosphere with a great bottle of wine, a fantastic meal and great service.

Park Hotel Kenmare

Let us start with the 5* Park Hotel Kenmare in County Kerry. Set amidst the stunning beauty at the South end of the Ring of Kerry, it spoils you with an on-site spa, as well as an indoor pool. You will be greeted by a concierge who will take care of your luggage. Old school – I love it. Their SÁMAS Spa will be the highlight of your stay. Their motto, ‘Indulging the senses’ will lead you to full relaxation and you can take advantage of their holistic treatments and wonderful outdoor pool from which you can take a peek at Kenmare Bay. It is stunning and just the right spot for a romantic weekend in Ireland.

The Europe Hotel & Resort

This one is definitely on my bucket list! I love the modern design and calm mood of The Europe Hotel & Resort. The 5* hotel surely belongs to one of the most romantic hotels in Ireland and rightly so! Their ESPA Spa has you in for a full luxury pampering and was awarded last year with a “Gold Medal”. The location of Europe is brilliant: Also set in Kerry it is only a short drive from Killarney and surrounded by the gorgeous Lakes of Killarney. On-site you can play a couple of rounds of golf, go horse-riding, hiking or get a boat out into the water and enjoy the calmness of the lakes. I am already in 7th heaven.

Ice House Hotel

When it’s cold outside then it’s just the right time to snuggle up under a blanket with your partner. The Ice House Hotel made it its motto to keep you cosy. Located in Ballina a gorgeous little part in Mayo you can look forward to a romantic getaway “the designer way”. The elegant and contemporary chic, as the hotel calls its design, the 4* hotel can boast with a beautiful spa, spacious rooms and stunning views of River Moy. You can also decide to reside a bit more old-school posh and stay in their Heritage Rooms with antique decor and lavish designs. You can book a several spa escapes in this hotel or explore the area with their activities on offer, like fishing, surfing or hiking across the historic Ceide Fields. Great for a romantic weekend!

Cliff House Hotel

A small luxury hotel on the coast of Waterford awaits you. The 5* Cliff House Hotel is set in Ireland’s Ancient East and you can look forward to a maximum amount of privacy as the hotel’s design gives you the feeling you have your own little house at the cliffs. You can choose between a range of wonderfully designed and colour coordinated rooms. Whatever makes you happy. They even have a Cliff Cottage and you can order a helicopter service to drop you to a close-by golf-course. The restaurant is something else… Awarded with a Michelin star, you can look forward to spoiling your palate with the finest dishes from local produce. Exquisite and a top choice for a romantic break in Ireland

One more that brings us to Kerry (sure it is gorgeous!) is the 4* Parknasilla Resort & Spa. Also set along the Wild Atlantic Way, in Sneem, this hotel boasts with special arrangements that you can book to spend the perfect romantic weekend. A 1-night stay with breakfast, dinner and a spa treatment would cost you €119 each. So not too crazy. The resort dates back to the late 17th century and definitely hasn’t lost its charm. Fully equipped with a spa and a golf course you will find a way to spend your time. I mean you’re set just next to the Kerry Mountains. Go for a hike :)

The Montenotte Hotel

The Montenotte Hotel is one of the most popular hotels in Cork and regularly ranks among the best hotels in Ireland. Its the perfect hotel to have a romantic break with that special someone. People can’t get enough of its gorgeous modern interiors and world-class service. It comes highly recommended and has managed to be awarded the certificate of excellence. You’re not too far from the centre of the city so you can stroll in for a bit of retail therapy. There are also gorgeous views of the city that are the perfect backdrop for a romantic hotel break in Ireland!

The International Hotel Killarney

Theres no doubt that Kerry is one of the most beautiful counties on our fair isle. From the gorgeous rugged coastline to the roaming green hills theres a lot to love about it. In terms of places to stay the International Hotel in Killarney is probably one of the most romantic hotels of them all! If you’re looking to go all out and really treat yourself and your partner to a great getaway then look no further than his amazing hotel. People love its location, its service and the general vibe of the hotel. If you’re planning a romantic retreat then it would be hard to go wrong with this one.
