Most of us have only heard of dreamy overwater bungalows in the Maldives. Then, last year the news that this incredible accommodation would soon arrive in Jamaica delighted us. And now we have some more amazing news. The first overwater bungalows in Mexico are now open!
For many, Mexico with its snow-white sandy beaches is paradise on earth. The water laps gently at the shore. We listen to the sound of the sea. Basking in the sun, we’re enjoying life to the fullest. Now, imagine that you’re lying in the middle of the bright turquoise, shimmering water by the pool of your own overwater bungalows in Mexico. This is everyone’s idea of a dream holiday in Mexico, isn’t it?
The first overwater bungalows in Mexico – in the El Dorado Maroma
The first dreamy overwater bungalows on Mexico’s Caribbean coast are on the Riviera Maya. They are located in the middle of the turquoise-blue sea between Tulum and Cancun. The overwater bungalows in Mexico are on the popular Playa del Carmen away from the other accommodation in the El Dorado Maroma resort. The location and the breath-taking view of the bungalows alone leave guests speechless on arrival. But, as soon as they step foot in their accommodation, the luxury exceeds all expectations. There are glass floors with views of Mexico’s colourful underwater world and a privateinfinity pool right under your nose. Your own ladder also gives you direct access to the sea – wow! The bungalows also include a huge double bed, a romantic whirlpool and an outdoor rain shower – pretty standard, right? ;)
All-inclusive was so last year. Here, it’s all about gourmet-inclusive and the name speaks for itself. Guests eat here in an overwater restaurant. They are pampered from morning to evening with freshly-prepared, culinary delights. Gourmet-inclusive also means you don’t have to pay extra for any food requests. A particular highlight is the evening meal. You can watch your food being prepared in a Live Cooking show with a sea view. First, I’d recommend a glass of wine on Maroma Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, as the sun goes down. Afterwards, you can enjoy a Mexican-style, luxury gourmet menu. Life doesn’t get much better than this! If you’d rather just stay in, it’s not a problem. You can also have your food served to you in your bungalow by a personal butler thanks to the 24-hour room service. All this is included in the gourmet-inclusive package.
As in every holiday paradise, there’s also a diverse daily programme in the El Dorado Maroma resort. It ranges from different water sports, like diving and snorkelling, to children’s entertainment and trips to the fashionable neighbouring towns of Tulum or Cancun. A great spa area takes care of your physical well-being. Here, resort guests are pampered from head to toe with special herbal remedies, like sea moss, according to ancient Mayan tradition.
“Let your feet dangle in the water and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunrises of your entire life!”
On at least one day, you should also get up early in the morning and throw open the doors to your bungalow. Make yourself comfortable by the pool, let your feet dangle in the water and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunrises of your entire life! Watch as the sun slowly rises from behind the sea and the sky turns from a dark colour to an orange-pink-red and finally an amazing blue. I promise that you won’t forget this moment quickly!
By the way, the price for a night in an overwater bungalow on the Playa del Carmen starts from about 600€. If the price for these unique overwater bungalows is a bit expensive for you, I can also recommend the rest of the resort’s accommodation. Depending on the type of accommodation and travel time, they “only” cost between 300 and 500€ per night.
