Valentine’s Day Breaks
Valentine’s day can be a tricky time of year for everyone. You’re just after making it through January and you need a little romantic treat to help you feel better. The thing is you’re not sure of what to get and you’re running out of time. What better way to keep both of you happy than with a great value Valentine’s day break. There are many options available to you from staycations in fabulous hotels to sun holidays. The great thing about travelling around valentine’s day is that they don’t have to break the bank if you know where to look!
What is Valentine’s Day?
While many people might view it as a bit of a scam Valentine’s day has been around in some shape or form for hundreds of years. It is principally a celebration of love that takes place around the world. People celebrate it every year on the 14th of February. However, in my view, it’s the perfect excuse to get away for a few days.
What are your options for a Valentines Break?
Realistically February is a brilliant time of year to travel. There are plenty of fantastic deals to be had. The main options would be a staycation, sun holiday or a city break. You would be surprised at the value that you can get even if you happen to be booking last minute. Getting a great deal for a romantic hotel can be even easier than you think.
This is probably the easiest for many people to take advantage of. They’re the easiest type of a gift to give and nothing says romance more than whisking your partner away for a relaxing few days. The main providers for these types of breaks would be Groupon and LivingSocial. There are plenty of hotels around the country that offer fantastic deals through these providers. You can check out some great places like Clare, Galway, Kerry, Cork and Donegal. Even if the weather might be a bit off while you’re there the hotels are very often well equipped to have you feeling relaxed.
Another great aspect to getting a staycation in a hotel is the fact that many of the hotels in Ireland have some seriously amazing spa facilities. Perhaps the most romantic gift you can get your significant other is a spa deal. Spending a weekend or a few days with luxury treatments is something that very few people can pass up.
Sun Holidays for Valentines Day
Another option available to just to drop everything and head off on a fantastic sun holiday to shake off the winter blues. You can be guaranteed a few brownie points if you can get a sun holiday in the bag. Imagine sitting down on the beach watching a romantic sunset with that special someone! There would be no better way to someone’s heart. Places like the Canary Islands, Malta and Malaga all offer some fantastic sunshine no matter what time of year it is.
Some of the providers that offer these fantastic deals include Expedia, TUI and Click&Go. Very often with a few of these providers you can take advantage of packages where things like your meals are covered and your flights. This means that it can be as little hassle as possible ;)
Valentine’s City Breaks
If you only want to get away for a few days and don’t want to go too far then a city break is just the thing you need. Thanks to many sales and cheap flights laid on for the beginning of the year, getting a great value city break doesn’t have to be too difficult. You can also get some great value on romantic hotels even when you book on the weekend.
By keeping an eye on websites like Skyscanner and Momondo you can really get some amazing value in some top destinations. The prices tend to fluctuate however like with many city breaks the earlier you book the better the value that you get.
What are the most romantic cities?
Sometimes even when you have an idea of what break you want to go on you struggle to come up with somewhere to go. Obviously, it would be up to personal preference on what city would be your favourite. However, some of the cities that are quoted as being the most romantic are Amsterdam, Paris, London, Budapest, Vienna and Rome.
Another tempting place to check out is New York. Thanks to the great deals on flights you can snag a romantic getaway for a few days in this wonderful city. This is obviously a special kind of trip but I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a major occasion than jetting off to the big apple.
The weather in these cities mightn’t be ideal this time of year but very often that doesn’t take away from their beauty. There can be plenty of celebrations going on in the cities as well so it’s important not to be discouraged by some dodgy weather.
