Single holidays – for those who choose to travel alone
Single traveller trips are very popular on my blog. Forgetting about your everyday life and embarking on a new adventure – that’s what travelling alone is all about. If you think that travelling alone is just for people who aren’t in a relationship, you’d be wrong. Travelling alone means freedom – you can go when you want, do what you want, and have some time for yourself. So, definitely do consider a single’s vacation.

What are the best and most popular destinations for travelling alone?
Whether it’s some time away by the beach, an exciting city break or an adventure holiday – there are single holidays to suit everyone. For a single package holiday, Spain, Greece and Italy are great, as are Thailand, Bali, and Vietnam. Those who love water sports will have a fantastic singles holiday in Fuerteventura, on Kuta Beach in Bali and in Jericoacoara in Brazil. Popular water sports here include surfing and kite surfing. If you’ve always wanted to fly to Australia, you should head to Byron Bay for your solo trip. The huge waves offer perfect conditions for a surfing holiday. A diving and snorkelling paradise for individual travellers is Nha Trang in Vietnam. How about Backpacking?
For adventure holidaymakers, Lake Garda is a great pick – wind and kite surfing are possible here as well as sailing and hiking. If you’re looking to make new friends and perhaps even find your life partner, you should head to Mykonos – this beautiful island has awesome nightlife, so you can party and flirt all you want. You’ll find the same vibes in Salamanca in Spain – fun is high on the agenda here! The Italian city of Florence is perfect for those interested in fashion and art. Lovers of Thailand will feel right at home on the island of Koh Phangan in particular since it’s here where the legendary Full Moon Parties take place on Haad Rin Beach. You’ll also find great party locations in Majorca, Barcelona, Saint-Tropez and Ibiza.
What types of single holidays can you get?
I regularly post tempting solo traveller offers here in my Single Holidays category, so you can book your perfect solo holiday. It doesn’t matter if you’re 20, 30, 40 or 50 – there are all kinds of offers waiting for you here. Here’s a small tip for you though: if you don’t find anything you like here in this section, then don’t worry! The vast majority of my city breaks and holiday packages can be customised, so you can change them from 2 or more travellers to just 1, making your very own custom solo trip. Just take a look and see what tickles your fancy!
Of course the classic thing when you consider travelling alone is going backpacking. Whether you chose Asia or South America, the great thing about travelling solo when backpacking is that you will meet like-minded people immediately. The backpacking paths will make sure that you even meet the same people over again during your holidays. Since backpackers usually stay in hostels you can be sure that you won’t stay alone for long. It’s a great social experiment. But maybe you also want to be on your own, then this one might be more suitable for you.
Single Walking Holiday
This is the perfect way to get some headspace and unwind. Get yourself some good trekking shoes and take a look at the different routes that are out there. Hiking in the Alps or how about you start the Camino de Santiago? It is a very humble way of travelling solo as you usually lodge in guesthouses or hostels along the way. The meals there are cheap, especially if you go on a pilgrimage like the Camino. A solo trip like this has often led to a completely new and refreshed mind set, so do consider it.
Women travelling alone – the safest destinations
Most people believe that it’s not safe for women to travel alone, but things are changing. Now there’s a whole wealth of destinations open to female travellers who are on the move by themselves. Not everywhere is perfect, but I have a ton of suggestions that I recommend. You can visit major cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, London, and Barcelona without any worries. Don’t worry though, this is just a small selection of the countless possibilities open to you on the continent.
Many regions in Australia, Asia and America are perfectly suitable for women travelling on their own as well. The important thing is simply having your wits about you – always stayed informed about where you’re staying, the culture and where to get help if you need it. If you still have any questions then you can always get in touch!
Travelling alone at 50, 40 or 30 – a perfect destination for everyone
Single holidays targeted at older travellers are getting more and more popular. Several travel providers often provide solo holidays to all sorts of destinations. You’ll get the opportunity to meet like-minded people and make all sorts of new friends along the way.
Popular destinations include Umbria and Tuscany, Crete, Catalonia, France and the UK, just to name a few. You can literally go where ever you want.
