The Climate in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is found in the Mojave Desert, so you can expect desert conditions in the city. Indeed, Las Vegas is subject to a subtropical hot desert climate. The city is incredibly sunny, with an average of 320 days of sunshine a year. In the summer, 86% of the daylight hours experience sunshine.

Summer in Las Vegas is long, hot, and dry. The hottest month in the city is July, when the mercury can often hit 40 degrees. The months of June to September are quite hot, dry, and humid. Those looking at booking Las Vegas holidays in these months might praise the air conditioning offered in casinos, hotels and shops along the strip.

Las Vegas winters are short and mild. They can get chilly, but it’s rare for Las Vegas to experience cold weather. December is the coldest month with temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius. Temperatures seldom fall below -4 degrees at night, or 7 degrees during the day. The wettest month of the year is February.

Flights from Ireland to Las Vegas

There are no direct flights from Ireland to Las Vegas. My best recommendation is to fly first to the UK and then catch another flight from there.

A non stop flight from the UK to Las Vegas can last for roughly 10 hours, so be sure you have plenty of entertainment to keep you going. The options to fly direct are limited to a small number of airports in the UK. There is also the option to take a stopover at an American airport and continue on to Las Vegas from there.

Famous Landmarks in Las Vegas

The hotel you will stay in during your Las Vegas holidays are something unlike any hotel you’ll have ever stayed in before, nor ever will again. The hotels on the strip in the city are like their own world. Many of them are themed, such as the Egyptian-themed Luxor Hotel and New York New York with its own replica Statue of Liberty. The high end hotels of the Bellagio, the Venetian and Ceasar’s Palace are really breath taking even just to walk by. Take a visit through the hotels and lose yourself in the worlds they create.

The Bellagio Fountain Show

The Bellagio is one of Las Vegas’ most expensive and decadent hotels. It’s not just the casino that draws the crowds. Be sure you’re standing in front of the fountains to watch the magnificent show they put on. With music, lights and of course, the fountains, this is a spectacle not to be missed! You can catch a show every half hour from 3pm to 8pm and every 15 minutes from 8pm to midnight, from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays the show runs every half hour from noon to 8pm, and every 15 minutes from 8pm to midnight. Sunday shows run every half hour from 11am to 7pm, and every 15 minutes from 7pm to midnight. So, you have every opportunity to catch at least one!

Stratosphere Tower

Thrill seekers, this one is for you! The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino is located on the northern end of the main strip. Here, you will also find some amazing rides to tempt and excite thrill seekers. You can choose from Sky Jump Las Vegas, a bungee jump; Insanity, a spinning ride to really feel the Gs;  X-Scream, an incredible rollercoaster thrusting you off the side of the building; and Big Shot, which was once the highest thrill ride in the world. Do you dare take a spin on these hair raisers?

Residency shows

Las Vegas’ residency shows have become a thing of legend. The city has played host to artists such as Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Backstreet Boys and Celine Dion among so many others. With such a huge range of artists, and other awesome shows you can catch, there simply is no reason to miss it!
