Lake Garda Weather
Generally speaking, the weather in Lake Garda is lovely and mild. For the best weather, you’ll want to travel during the summer months, where day time temperatures can range from 25 – 31°C. However, this will coincide with peak season, so expect higher prices for flights and accommodation as well as larger number of tourists in the area. If you want to travel at a quieter time of year but still want to enjoy some nice weather, consider travelling during the so-called “shoulder” season in spring and autumn. Temperatures in spring are at around the 15 – 20°C mark, while the autumn months of September and October will still be cooling down from the summer highs. Winter in Lake Garda is pretty chilly, where daytime temperatures will dip below 10°C, but if you’re looking for a tranquil getaway it’s still worth looking into. Seeing the mountains decked in snow is a magical sight indeed!
I’ve written an in-depth guide about the best time to visit Lake Garda, where I’ve broken down the weather for each month in more detail.

Where to Stay in Lake Garda
There are so many beautiful towns and hotels in Lake Garda that it can seem a bit overwhelming trying to choose a place to stay! To help you out, here’s a quick overview of the most popular places to stay in Lake Garda
Malcesine perfectly encapsulates your typical Lake Garda scene. Colourful townhouses by the lakeside, a gorgeous castle and dramatic hills in the distance – this charming little town has everything you could need for a great stay. From the top of nearby Monte Baldo you’ll be able to soak up some of the magnificent views of the lake – you can take the cable car up there!
Peschiera del Garda
Down at the southernmost banks of the lake is the stunning town of Peschiera del Garda. With its canals and wealth of historic and archaeological treasures, it’s almost like Garda’s own version of Venice. People looking to plan a family holiday to Lake Garda will find that Peschiera is a great base for families – not only are there plenty of awesome camping sites and holiday homes nearby, but you’ll also be a stone’s throw away from Gardaland, Italy’s most popular theme park. It’ll be a hit with both long and old!
Riva del Garda & Torbole
Over in the northernmost tip of Lake Garda is the delightful town of Riva del Garda. Nestled between the water and the foothills of the Alps, the breath-taking scenery only adds to the magic of this gorgeous corner of Garda. From the ruins of the Bastione fortress you’ll have panoramic views of the town below, or you can soak up some picture-perfect views down by the waterside at the Ai Caduti del Mare monument. The nearby town of Torbole is also a great choice – you’ll find a lovely pebbly beach with uninterrupted views of the mountains.
Limone Sul Garda
One of my personal favourites, the peaceful town of Limone sul Garda really is squashed in between the lake and the sheer cliffs! In the surrounding area you’ll find some of the most magnificent scenery going up in the Alto Garda Bresciano National Park – after a busy day of exploring, sit down at one of the many superb restaurants in the centre of town and savour the incredible cuisine on offer.
Torri del Benaco
Widely considered to be one of the most beautiful towns by Lake Garda, Torri del Benaco just oozes with charm. Stroll through the winding streets, admire the gorgeous houses adorned with flowers, and enjoy some romantic meals at one of the many waterfront cafes and restaurants. While it can get pretty busy here during the summer time, it’s still a fantastic place to experience a proper slice of that dolce vita.
