Cheap City Breaks from Dublin
As I’ve mentioned before, Dublin is served by loads of routes and enjoys the best connectivity in the island of Ireland. With that in mind it can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to actually picking a destination, but here are some of the most popular city break destinations amongst Irish holidaymakers that you can easily reach from Dublin.
London, United Kingdom
The UK capital is only a short hop away, so it makes sense that cheap city breaks and flights from Dublin to London are dead easy to find. With a journey time of just over 1 hour and dozens of daily connections, you’re spoilt for choice. Prices start at around the €30 when flying to budget-oriented airports such as London Gatwick, Stansted or Southend. London Heathrow and London City tends to be the most expensive, with the route being served by national flag carriers such as Aer Lingus or British Airways.
Amsterdam, the Netherlands
One of the most popular city breaks for Irish holidaymakers looking to soak up a bit of culture, or generally just have a bitta craic! Cheap Dublin – Amsterdam city breaks are easy to find if you know where to look, with prices for flights starting at approximately €50 – though this can drop further when there are sales on! Keep your eyes peeled and I’ll be sure to share cheap flights to Amsterdam from Dublin when I find them as they’re so popular!
Another big hitter, Prague is renowned the world over for its wealth of incredibly well-preserved architecture. Lose yourself in the maze of streets in the Old Town, enjoy a relaxing cruise along the river and get stuck into the heaving nightlife – beer is cheap here! Flights from Dublin to Prague normally fetch around €60 for the return, but hotels are very reasonable here, so you ultimately won’t be forking too much to enjoy a well-deserved city break to Prague.
Have you always dreamed of soaking in the legendary thermal baths? Well you’ll be glad to know that I’m always finding cheap city breaks to Budapest! Even if flights from Dublin to Budapest are a bit more expensive, hotels can be so cheap that it doesn’t really make too much of a difference! I absolutely love admiring the views from the Fishermen’s Bastion and checking out all of the famous ruin bars that are scattered across the city.
A city break to Barcelona is one of the best holidays you can do. Alongside heavenly beaches and fantastic climates, the city is awash with colour and character thanks to its lively neighbourhoods and quirky architecture. Dublin – Barcelona flights can drop to as low as €35 – €40, so be sure to keep checking back often if you want to bag a serious bargain to the wonderful Catalan capital.
All inclusive holidays from Dublin and cheap sun holidays
It kinda goes without saying that Irish weather can leave a lot to be desired. So why not treat yourself to a relaxing few days by the beach and bask in some glorious sunshine? As well as cheap flights and city breaks, another big part of my daily deal hunting involves looking for cheap package holidays from Ireland. Whether it’s a trip to classic destinations such as Majorca or the Canaries to romantic escapes to the Greek islands, I’m always on the lookout for fabulous deals to help make a proper sun holiday accessible to everyone, no matter your budget.
Here are some of the most popular sun destinations amongst Irish holidaymakers – you really can’t go wrong with them!
Pretty much THE classic sun destination, Majorca has it all. Crystal-clear waters, plush beaches and gorgeous coastal scenery tick all the right boxes, but what I also love about the island is that it’s just so diverse. Want to enjoy a few cans with the lads? Be sure to scope out the nightlife in lively areas such as Santa Ponsa, Palma or Magaluf. Fancy something a bit more authentic? Then retreat to one of the many historic towns and villages such as Deia, Valldemossa or Fornalutx and enjoy the tranquil, peaceful atmosphere. Plus with plenty of cheap flights and hotels, it’s dead easy to find a Majorca holiday from Dublin.
The Algarve, Portugal
This gorgeous region in the south of Portugal is incredibly popular with Irish holidaymakers. More often than not this destination provides excellent value for money, and you can get a lot for what you pay for compared to other popular sun destinations. Cheap flights to Faro from Dublin are a dime a dozen, and you can find some gorgeous hotels and resorts by the sea without having to fork out too much. If that wasn’t good enough, the Algarve’s breathtaking cliffs, beaches and traditional fishing villages mean that a holiday to Portugal is always a good idea!
The Canaries, Spain
The allure of year-round sunshine is enough to draw countless visitors to this far-flung corner of Spain. Islands such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote all have their distinct character, but they all share one thing in common: amazing weather! Even during winter the temperatures will be incredibly mild, so if you’re looking for some winter sunshine but don’t want to spend loads on a flashy all-inclusive holiday to a long-haul destination, the Canary Islands will sort you out just nicely!
The island of Malta (and Gozo!) may be small in size, but it more than makes up for it with its wealth of historic sights, wonderful scenery and great weather. As a general rule of thumb, flights to Malta from Dublin can be pretty cheap, making it easy to find package holidays or shorter break. I especially recommend using your next holiday to Malta as well-deserved spa break – there are some brilliant 4* and 5* hotels with lush spas on hand to spoil you rotten, so once you’ve done a bit of sightseeing in Valletta or Mdina you can put your feet up and chill to the max.
Crete, Corfu, Zakynthos and Santorini – there are too many islands in Greece for me to list, but there’s no denying how amazing this region is for your next sun holiday. Families will love the gentle beaches of Corfu and Crete, party animals will love the buzz in Mykonos and Zakynthos, and of course all you lovebirds out there are probably already planning your romantic escape to the most romantic island of all: Santorini. The sheer diversity of the Greek Islands mean that there’s endless opportunities for cheap sun holidays or honeymoon packages open to you.
