When it comes to travel, the more the merrier! If you’re looking to travel on a budget or want accommodation that’s a little more swanky than what you usually go for, then travelling as a group is a great way to save some pennies! That’s why I’m often on the lookout for fantastic group holiday offers that depart from several airports across Ireland, so you’ll be guaranteed to find something no matter what your tastes!
Group travel – something for everyone!
Maybe there’s a birthday coming up and you want a way to make it truly unforgettable. Or perhaps you all just fancy a bit of fun in the sun and book a trip away? Whatever your reasons or tastes, I make sure to give you all that information you need and that I pick out a wide range of group holiday deals so that everyone can enjoy some time away with their nearest and dearest.
Group holiday destinations
Sometimes it will be a city break to destinations such as Amsterdam or Berlin – places whose incredible nightlife and huge number of sights make them the perfect choice when travelling as a group. Or it could even just be an all-inclusive week away in the sun with your big family with that extra-special touch. After all, why stay in a hotel when you could be staying in a private rental property? Travelling in larger groups means that you’ll be well suited for staying in accommodation that would otherwise be too expensive as a couple, since you’ll be splitting the costs between you all. Keep your eyes peeled and you’ll be surprised by how a luxurious getaway really doesn’t have to cost you the world!
Group holidays Ireland
How about a staycation?? Getting a good group holiday deal in Ireland is actually not very difficult. You don’t have to organise any flights and everybody can book their own trip to get to the place. You just need to find the right spot! Pick something that is not too remote and see that the ratio between how long you stay and how convenient it is to reach makes sense. A night in Dublin, when you’re all from close-by makes sense, but if you decide to drive across the whole country for just a night, then I might reconsider. I would definitely use Airbnb for finding suitable accommodation, but also Sykescottages is a great website to book a good group holiday deal. It’s totally up you then, simply insert the number of people and take your pick.
Group holidays Europe
Now when it comes to leaving Ireland, things get a little more complicated, but how to best book flights for a group I’ll tell you below. I’m a big fan of city breaks for groups and escaping with your friends to discover a new place sounds like heaven to me. However, try to keep the group still small. Amsterdam on a Saturday is crowded enough, so you don’t want to travel with 14 of your friends to the Dutch capital only to spend time on keeping everyone together or arguing where to go for dinner. Also, taking a short coffee break can become a real challenge… If you can’t help it and want to travel with a really big group then maybe consider a sunny destinations and go on holiday where you can laze around the pool or at the beach all day and take small, well-organised trips whenever you want to. This keeps the stress out of the holiday and even smaller groups can decide to rent a car a visit the nearby town, without everyone voting for it.
Hen weekend Ireland and abroad
Ok, what’s the focus of a hen night? Party! So be sure to pick a destination where there is a good nightlife and avoid a Monday to Wednesday trip. Even if you could save a lot of money. You won’t have the best chances on finding an open club then… Since partying is your main thing, you also shouldn’t go over the top with the location, especially if you only plan on going for 2 nights. Hopping over to the UK for a hen night is always a great idea, and destinations like Newcastle and Liverpool have the perfect bachelor party atmosphere. If you rather want to stay on your island, then Belfast is the place to be for a hen night. It’s relatively cheap and you save yourself another flight to book :) An absolute must is booking choosing your restaurants for dinner and ordering a table well in advance. There is nothing worse than entering a restaurant and get sent away cause they are full.
Stag weekend ideas
I guess the same applies for a stag night, too. Although I hear more and more people choosing a camping trip in Ireland or a weekend in a mountain lodge for a stag do. This is of course also a way to keep the price relatively low. You can combine a weekend like this with fun activities like hiking, rafting and a nice BBQ. Gosh…this sounds very stereotypical…I know the ladies would love this too! :D
Now, family gathering usually get out of hand when it comes to the number of attendees. Since among the guests there will also be a lot of elderly people it is probably best to choose a larger hotel than an Airbnb. You can’t really beat the service of a hotel and the fact that you can quickly go down to the restaurant for breakfast in the morning, instead of having to provide a good Irish fry to 40 people… The hotels usually have enough space to give you an extra breakfast and dinner room.
When it comes to family gatherings be sure to book a hotel of a suitable size well in advance. Probably a year, as you also need to find a date that suits everyone. Also keep in mind that all the family members need to get to the location, so choose a hotel that is super convenient to reach.
Group holidays flights
You are in charge of organising this group holiday? And you don’t know where to start when it comes to booking flights for the whole group? Well, you could simply send the flight details to everyone so that each one books his/her own flight. If you are a smaller group, it makes sense however, to collect the flight costs upfront and make a group booking. Gather all the information you need to know from the passengers, so that you don’t end up interrupting the booking every 20 minutes. You will also most likely save on booking fees when you place a group booking instead of each person booking his or her own flight.
Just be sure to keep checking back on blog often! I normally come across cheap group holidays very regularly, so I’ll be guaranteed to find something that’ll suit your needs.
