There are so many countries at our doorstep that you can easily cross off your list in no time at all, even if you’re on a really tight budget. Anyone can enjoy the excitement of a few days away, and that’s exactly why I’m always looking for plenty of city breaks to help keep you inspired.
Cheap City Breaks from Ireland
Weekend breaks vs. weekday breaks
To get the best value when booking a city break you should try to avoid travelling at the weekend. The hotel rates for Friday and Saturday nights are always much higher than during the week. So if somehow possible ask for 2 days off and depart on a Sunday. Then you still have one day without taking a holiday but avoid the high flight prices as well. Of course, if you only have time at the weekend, then check out my deals. I always mention in our deal headings if the break is over a weekend and I get you the cheapest possible weekend city break deal.
City breaks from Dublin
From Dublin, your possibilities are endless. This airport flies to almost all European capitals direct for a really low price. Especially to the UK you will always find great last minute city breaks. Newcastle, Edinburgh or Manchester are destinations where you don’t have to spend more than €100 for a 2-day trip. Even a short trip to New York is possible from Dublin mostly for under €500!
City breaks from Shannon
From Shannon you can still depart to numerous destinations, however, you might be a bit more limited in terms of direct flights. For cheap city breaks from Shannon you could look into visiting Berlin & Frankfurt, Malaga, Stockholm, Edinburgh or Krakow, to name just a few. Check out my Holidays from Shannon to see what deals I have on offer.
City breaks from Cork
If you prefer departing from Cork, then you can get a great deal with direct flights to Amsterdam, Palma, Paris, Gdansk, Liverpool or even Reykjavik! for that check out my Holidays from Cork to get yourself a cheap city break
Last Minute City breaks
Especially when booking a last minute city break you can get a great deal on short trip. Sometimes the flight prices drop by a great deal and you’ll be able to snap up a super bargain. The only thing that you need to be is flexible. It could be that you are departing within the next week, but then again…it won’t get cheaper. Unlike long-distance holidays, I would definitely recommend waiting for last minute deals in this case.
City breaks in Europe – explore up and coming destinations
It doesn’t matter what time of year it is – there’s a city break destination for every season. For example autumn can be a lovely time for short breaks, or take a look at my best summer city breaks. It’s a quick and easy way of getting to grips with new cultures, learning about the history and enjoying the diverse and varied nightlife. In my City Break category, I share the best deals around, guaranteeing you incredibly low prices to cities like London, Amsterdam, Budapest and Prague (to name just a few!). Trips to European destinations for under €100 per person? It’s possible! Staying in a 4* hotel even though you’re on a tight budget? Of course – I wouldn’t be your Guru otherwise!
It’s not just the prices I keep my eyes on though. I always make sure that I’m providing destinations that you might not have considered before to keep things interesting. Cities like Riga, Tallinn, Gdansk, Bratislava and Ljubljana aren’t just beautiful – they’re cheap too! That’s why it pays to try somewhere new and unknown, since you’re guaranteed to make amazing savings along the way.
