It’s finally happened! Dublin is going to have it’s first ever traditional Christmas market! Following in the footsteps of the popular Galway and Belfast markets, not to mention the hundreds dotted all across Europe, Dublin has stepped up to put on this magical affair.

To visit the market, you can leave the car at home and get the train or bus up to Dublin to avoid the nightmarish traffic and stay in a fancy hotel. The hotel is the O’Callaghan Alexanderwhich is on Fenian Street. It is only a short stroll to Trinity College and a hop, skip and jump to the Christmas Market. This hotel has a 4 out of 5 star rating on Trip Advisor, so you know it’ll be proper fancy!

The market will have more than 60 trade stalls in wooden chalets located along the outside of St Stephen’s Green Park, between Grafton Street and Merrion Row. You will find a delightful assortment of Irish handmade goods, accessories, wood-crafts, jam and prints. To keep you warm while you shop you will have a selection of food from charcoal grill, crepes, bratwurst, chocolate fountain, Gluhwein as well as other seasonal and non-alcoholic drinks.

The market opens on Thursday, 13 November and will run until Tuesday, 23 December every day from 12 noon until 8pm. Shoppers will be entertained daily with performances from local choirs and carollers while the Christmas magic will really come to life with street lights and decorations all around.
