Stand on the shoulders of giants with this amazing deal to Ballycastle, Co. Antrim which I found for you on Livingsocial.ie. It is to The Fullerton Arms which has a 4/5 rating on Trip Advisor. It includes a one night stay, or you can get two nights for €119 with loads of extras.
Antrim Hotel Offer
The deal includes daily breakfast, bottle of wine on arrival and a delicious three course evening meal. The hotel is located just a few minutes from the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Not for the faint hearted, it is a rope bridge suspended over a 30-metre deep and 20-metre wide chasm.
The Old Bushmills Distillery is Ireland’s oldest working distillery and a tour of it is well worth the visit, if only for the free whiskey you get with this voucher. The famous Giant’s Causeway is also close-by, a natural phenomenon which will take your breath away.
The legend of the Causeway states that a 54 foot tall giant called Fionn mac Cumhaill lived on the Antrim coast with his wife, Oonagh. Until one day his rival Benandonner was driving him so mad that he scooped up a handful of earth, (the hole now makes up Lough Neagh), and threw it across the sea but missed (the plot is now known as the Isle of Man). Fionn and Benandonner decided it was time to fight, so Fionn built stepping stones to cross the sea to Scotland without getting wet.
The story goes that at the sight of Benandonner, Fionn got frightened and ran home to hide. His wife Oonagh decided to dress him as a big baby in order to hide him from Benandonner who came to look for him but when he saw the giant baby, he thought Fionn must indeed be massive and also ran in fear. He ripped up the Causeway on his way home so he could not be followed. And that is why a the Giant’s Causeway exists in North Antrim with a similar site near to Scotland.
However, why don’t you book this trip to decide if you believe the tale.
