Take a break on stunning Achill Island in County Mayo. Walk along the EU Blue Flag beaches at the Atlantic Ocean or the inland lakes. The area is particularly popular for surfing (go to Keel strand for that) and all other kinds of water sports. Or if you like fishing, catch some in the many lakes (Achill waters hold the record of the heaviest fish caught in Ireland!). Of course – as almost anywhere in Ireland – you can also use the many Golf Courses in the area… I found agreat hotel deal on pigsback.com, so, stay at Achill Island Hotel (4/5 on Tripadvisor) situated at on the mainland side of Michael Davitt Bridge. Breakfast is included so then definitely try out Alice’s Sea Food Restaurant  which gives you an amazing view across Achill island while eating delicious and fresh and locally caught seafood. For a night cap go by Alice’s Harbour Bar where you can have a cool drink watching the sun set over the ocean. What could be more relaxing…?
