Many people would dream of going on a holiday to Sri Lanka but with this amazing deal from travelbird.co.uknot only could you go on holiday but tour around the entire island. This tour will include many fabulous sites, accommodation, breakfast, luggage and transfers. Also, your own persona guide! It doesn’t get much better than that.

The ten magical nights include seven hotels which I have listed below. Every day is as amazing as the last, it will be an unforgettable adventure, and really bring you to many places you may never have uncovered yourself.

Your Sri Lanka Tour

On the first day, after you’ve landed, you will be greeted at the airport in Colombo and brought to your first hotel to check in and rest. After a good night’s sleep and a lovely breakfast, you’ll go to the nearby fishing village to watch the fishermen at work before making your way up to Anuradhapura in the heart of the island. That evening you will visit this ancient capital of Sri Lanka, a city sacred to Buddhists, where you will see the sacred Sri Maha Bodi tree (the oldest imported tree in the world) and glance at many other stunning temples.

The following day you will explore the ancient caves  in Dambulla which have been inhabited since 1BC. Here you will make friends with monkeys as you adventure in the jungle (watch your belongings!!). Day four involves rock climbing up a UNESCO world heritage site called the “Rock Fortress in the Sky”, in Sigiriya, which was built in the 5 century. The climb isn’t too difficult but will reward you with an absolutely breathtaking view across the Sri Lankan jungle. On top of that gigantic rock, you can also explore the ruins of a beautiful temple. After this, you will visit the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa, which the Sri Lankans built to escape the Indians coming from the north. There you can see 3 huge Buddha statues which are are carved in stone and show him in the phase of sleeping, meditating and in nirvana. Absolutely stunning!

The fifth day is when you will witness animals in their natural environment, such as elephants and other wildlife at Minneriya National Park. Day six is a busy one, you’ll go on a pilgrimage to the Golden Temple of Dambulla. Following this you’ll proceed on to a herb garden where you will learn about the healing powers of herbs and plants.

On day seven, you actually get to feed the elephants and play with them in the river at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, while on day eight you get to immerse yourself in more wildlife by the serenity of a lake.

If you’re a fan of tea you will love day nine when you get to tour the tea plantations and factory in Nuwara Eliya. The tour finishes on day ten when you drive back to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. You will visit some of the city’s top attractions. On day eleven, after a nice breakfast it is time to depart for the airport.

The areas you visit on this tour are Anuradhapura, Ritigala, Dambulla, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Minneriya, Matale, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Colombo.
