All right, from Ireland it is not the easiest or cheapest to get to any other Greek Island than Crete or maybe Corfu. However, there are so many more stunning islands waiting for you which can boast with their sandy beaches, crystal clear water and a wonderful scenery. Especially Mykonos has developed to a super popular Greek destination also for it’s lovely and tolerant atmosphere. I have found you a reasonably priced holiday for Mykonos on Expedia.ie so let’s take a look at the details:

So, of course the flights are a bit awkward, however that’s how it is when you want to get from one island to another, right?  ;) Also the reason why you arrive only the next morning so I hope that’s ok for you! Once you’ve arrived you will already see the famous windmills in Chora, that are so characteristic for Mykonos. Then of course, you find one of “The World’s Best Beaches” on the island, called Paradise Beach. It won’t be that crowded any more in October so you will actually be able to get yourself a spot in the fine sand and enjoy the sun there.

3-star Olia Hotel (78% on Tripadvisor) will welcome you right by the Mediterranean Sea in Tourlos and was even awarded with a Certificate of Excellence! You get direct access to the beach and to the vibrant harbour it is only a short walk. The hotel is held in the typical Greek style, with white painted bungalows nestled upon the hill. Your spacious room is comfortably equipped, also with wifi and spreads a relaxing atmosphere. You can decide to relax at the nice outdoor pool and enjoy the fantastic view across the island, or you stay at the beach. What you should definitely do is book a mini cruise across the Aegean Sea. Since you’re so close to the harbour it will be easy to have access to the ships and you can organize it at the ticket desk of the hotel, they are really cheap and so worth going on. Make sure you choose a cruise that also visits the Turkish side of the Aegean, since you’re so close to it anyway. I always love these boat trips as they provide you with amazing sea food on board and stop at the most gorgeous bays where you can jump right into the blue and super clean water. Once you’re back at the hotel you should also take advantage of the restaurant Meze on Port, they serve typically Greek tapas which taste amazing! Then I guess there is no better way of letting the evening fade out with a nice glass of Greek wine overlooking the sunset…
