There are just so many beautiful Christmas markets in Germany that it’s hard to know which ones to pick. So how about trying a completely new city for a change? ;)
Dresden Christmas Markets Break
Dresden is the capital of the German province of Saxony, situated near the border to the Czech Republic. Its historic centre is bursting with some seriously impressive examples of architecture that’s been painstakingly restored and it’s a delight to explore. So just imagine what it’ll be like when all the squares are lit up and the smell of mulled wine is in the air!
I’ve put this deal together using Hotels.com and Skyscanner, so you’ll be booking your flights and accommodation separately. The flights actually land at Prague, but there are many coach services that will get you there in well under 2 hours and they’re all quite cheap too. Plus you’ve also got 3 nights at the 4* Art’otel Dresden – it puts you in a handy location for exploring the centre, which is just what you need for a short break!
Be sure to go for a walk along the river and admire the wonderful skyline from afar before heading diving into the action. The Old Town is filled with palaces and Baroque landmarks, but the most impressive of all is the Frauenkirche church that was pretty much rebuilt completely from the ground up, having only been finished in 2004. Really interesting stuff!
