Dublin: A Foodie Capital on the Rise!

The Most Flavourful Events in Dublin for Taste the Island

If one thing is for sure over the last number of years, it’s that you’ll never be stuck for a decent bite to eat in the capital. With new must-try spots opening every week, there’s always something new to dig your teeth into! And that’s why I’m so excited to see what Dublin has on the menu for Taste the Island…

Dublin Vegfest

Let’s start with next week in Griffith College, with Dublin Vegfest. The huge choice of of vegan spots around the city over recent months, and still escalating, has really given people the flexibility and real comfort to go vegan and stick with it. So I have a feeling this event will be very popular, happening on September 28th and 29th.

Of course, it’s not only for vegans – why not head out and see what veganism is all about and discover a world of flavours and information from a huge array of speakers over both days. Dublin Vegfest are a small, passionate group of people essentially celebrating the sustainable vegan lifestyle, and have really paved the way for it in Dublin through the early days and still now, so no better event to really get a feel for the diet and lifestyle, and just enjoy delicious food and a great two days out.

Slow in the City

Next up is a celebration of Slow Food!

Taking place in the Liberties on Sunday, November 3rd, Slow in the City is a family event consisting of talks, tastings, demos, workshops – you name it – and is all about highlighting good, clean and fair food in Dublin.

The areas of the festival include The Symposium, where there’ll be panel talks and discussions, Workshops, where adults and kids alike will be shown some tricks of the trade, and Markets, where of course, you’ll get the treat the tastebuds for yourself!

Dublin Whiskey Live

Something a little different, and potentially a little more niche, but an absolute must nonetheless for any whiskey enthusiasts out there!

Whiskey Live is Dublin’s premier whiskey tasting event taking place on 22nd and 23rd of November and is actually organized by the Celtic Whiskey Store on Dawson St, so you already know you’re in good hands!

Not only will you have opportunity to taste and sample numerous whiskeys from Ireland and around the world, but you’ll meet the faces behind your favorites, and engage in masterclasses, food pairings, and cocktail samples too.

The event will be held in the Printworks in Dublin castle, and at least €10 from every ticket sale will go to Down Syndrome Dublin, so your support is going to a good cause.

Dublin Town Food & Drink Festival

As I said earlier on – Dublin really has become a total foodie city over the last number of years. And actually, DublinTown Food & Drink Festival had its first year back in 2018, so the celebration of food in the capital really is a recent thing, but it’s taking off at an exceptional rate… with good reason.

This year’s festival is set to be incredible. Taking place from 14th – 20th of October there are so many experiences to choose from, whether you’re interested in food or drink, or of course both! There’ll be seafood workshops, a coffee cocktail masterclass, dumpling making classes, and so much more.

Food experiences from all around the city and the globe – this is definitely an event I want to be at!
