There’s nothing better than that first sip of a delicious ice-cold cocktail in a hip bar… except if that bar happens to be on a rooftop with crazy awesome views over one of the world’s coolest cities! There’s something about partying under the stars that makes you feel glamorous, and in some of these bars you’ll probably be partying among the stars!

The World’s Best Rooftop Bars

I’ve found a bar for every continent (and one for Ireland just because I’m so patriotic), each located in some of the world’s most happening and vibrant cities… and all high up of course! I’ve also found a signature drink for each bar, so you’ll know what to order and look like a regular in some of the world’s chic-est haunts. So here you go… The World’s Best Rooftop Bars

New York City

NYC Upstairs

When it comes to slick city views, nowhere beats New York. Take the express elevator from the street level and be transported to an exquisite world above the city in this swish NYC bar, which has amazing views over the New York skyline. Unleash your inner sex in the city with a Flirtini thirty floors up, or get the Chrysler – a classic, timeless, and unbelievably seductive champagne cocktail made with the finest honey, fresh lemon and lime, topped with the French nectar of love! Rated 4/5 on TripAdvisor.

Dubai

Level43 Skylounge

Everyone knows that when it comes to skyscrapers, you don’t get much higher than Dubai, the home of the legendary Burj Khalifa. This bar is, unsurprisingly given it’s name, on the 43rd floor, and has an amazing view over the city by night. The bar doubles up as a restaurant during the day, and you can always get some cheeky tapas to help wash down your cocktail. Level43 has two signature drinks – one for him and one for her, simply called the Level 43. If you fancy something else, you could order a Skyline, sit back and appreciate the real thing unfolding beneath you. Rated 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, this Dubai bar really is not to be missed.

Bangkok

Sky Bar

This amazing bar is perched 820 feet above the Thai capital Bangkok, and is one of the highest rooftop bars in the world. With breathtaking views over the city, this bar would be note-worthy even if just for its cocktails – try a Vanity, a pink frothy drink made from aged bourbon, combined with shaken lemon juice and fresh raspberry crushed over pineapple – then served in a glass made entirely of ice. There’s a smart casual dress code here, but would you want to be looking shabby when it feels like the whole world can see you? This super-chic bar is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Rated 4/5 on TripAdvisor.

Dublin

The Marker Roof top Bar

Now back to Ireland, we can definitely boast with that one special roof top bar! You probably all know what I’m talking about. It’s The Marker (with amazing 4.5/5 on TripAd)! Ok since Dublin is a very low-built city it might not be as high up as other roof top bars, but it can surely compete with the others when it comes to design, style and ambient. Enjoy great views across the city, the Bord Gáis and the Liffey at night, while you’re sipping on one of the numerous cocktails the bar has on offer. You must try the Gin Basil Smash! It’s a revelation and you won’t regret it, I promise. Message The Marker and book a table up there, celebrate your birthday over the roofs of Dublin or simply go for a romantic snack with your loved one. It’s the place to be!

Cape Town

Tjing Tjing

This Cape Town cocktail paradise totally confirms the city’s new found reputation for having the hottest, most hipster bar scene in Africa. Part rooftop bar, bar ultra-cool loft, this bar is in an incredible 200 year old building in the heart of the city, and prides itself on playing the hippest new indie and electronica. Recommended here would be the Tjing-Thai-Tini, which features Stoli, lime leaves, ginger, chilli and lemongrass for a truly explosive twist on the cocktail classic. The bar is rated 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, and it’s not hard to see why. Tempted?

London

Shoreditch House

Switching to London, you needn’t look further than uber-hip Shoreditch for an amazing bar with an incredible view. Located just to the east of The City, this hipster haven has a mind-blowingly cool rooftop bar with a pool and views looking across to London’s financial heart, including the Shard and the Gherkin. For a truly British flavour try the Porch Punch, which features Woodford Reserve, earl grey, lime, orange blossom – what better way to appreciate one of the world’s greatest cities! Rated 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, this bar proves that you don’t have to jet halfway across the world to live the good life.

Melbourne

Campari House

Melbourne has a well earned reputation as Australia’s coolest city, with it’s laid-back lifestyle and awesome bar scene. At the epicentre of this is the ultra cool Campari House; part restaurant, part bar the highlight of this place is it’s too-cool-for-school rooftop bar. Chill out under the Aussie sky while sipping a jam jar full of the aptly named Jam Jar, which combines Bacardi Oakheart Spiced Rum, blueberry jam, raspberry compote, lime, fresh mint, and soda water, before descending again to hit this city’s famous nightlife. Rated 3.5/5 on TripAdvisor.

Sao Paolo

Skye Bar

The final word in rooftop luxury, this bar has a crimson swimming pool with underwater sound system, plus a massive lounge area with breath-taking views over the towers of the Sao Paulo skyline. The bar has some of the worlds best DJs guesting after 9PM, so you can party in the sky with some of Brazil’s most glamorous party animals. Why not enjoy a Latin classic and sip a Mojito on top of the world in this sexiest of rooftop bars. Rated 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, it’s definitely worth crossing oceans for!

If that doesn’t make you thirsty for a cheeky cocktail, I don’t know what will! With a bar on every continent you’ll have to be a proper globetrotter to have been to all of them, but I bet some of my classy followers have been to some of these uber-cool bars! Let me know in the comments, or tell me which one has most tickled your fancy! I have to admit I’m pretty tempted to book myself a round-the-world ticket right now so I can experience all of them for myself… But with The Marker Roof Top Bar in good old Ireland being the coolest in Europe, I can safely say that I’ll soon have one continent under my belt! Cheers!
