The Luxurious Keemala Resort in Thailand – A Blend of Meadow Scenery with an Alien Settlement

There are places in the world as pretty as a dream. The Keemala Villas on Phuket definitely belong to this category. The tree houses, villas and tents are dotted across the landscape like birds nests and lend the holistic resort in Thailand a fairy tale look. The scenery appears to be a blend of a meadow and alien landscapes from Avatar. Waterfalls rush into the large, multi-level pool complex, you can hear the birds sing in the lush garden, the breezy villas impress with their typically Thai interiors and a fantastic view view of surrounding nature. What’s the secret behind this extraordinary resort and what varied accommodation does it house?

Too good to be true: the Keemala Villas

Bedroom means something different here, don’t you think? There are only 38 villas in Keemala – every single one of them has its unique charm and impresses with a fabulous interior. Just like in other luxury hotels, nothing is random – behind every plant, every rock and every piece of furniture is a story. That’s also the case for the various accommodation types, all of which recreate a traditional Thai way of life. What’s extraordinary: every villa has a private pool and was built in an eco-conscious way. Luxury and sustainability go hand in hand here. A modern and important approach!

In harmony with Earth in Clay Pool Cottages

The Clay Pool Cottages vary in size, between 126 and 180 m², and remind of the Thai fishermen, gardeners and miners. They built their houses not just on the ground but also incorporated the many earth materials in the floors, walls and the roof. You can find many of these materials in the villas now.

Creative tree tops in the Tree Pool Houses

You’ll definitely see the similarities to the Hollywood blockbuster Avatar here. The hotel guests have a chance to stay in a two storey,  170m² tree house perched among the trees of the native forest. Of course you’ll have your own pool here. The We Ha clan and their way of life inspired the construction. The clan believed that creativity and freedom emerged in the treetops first and so the healers, geologists and architects built their houses high above the ground.

A touch of adventure in the Tent Pool Villas

The lifestyle of travellers and adventurers of the Horn Jorn clan is represented by the Tent Pool Villas. Semi-attached tents were the preferred lodgings of the nomads who moved around and traded with other tribes. The interiors of spacious Keemala tents remind of the type of tents used in those times and invite to daydream and make plans. Here too the guests will have their own pool and enjoy a view.

On top of the world in the Bird’s Nest Pool Villas

A stay in Bird’s Nest Pool Villas is absolutely heavenly and hard to top. Guests reside in 185m² villas in the treetops. The structure of these villas was influenced by the lifestyle of the Rung-Nok clan members. Many years ago, philosophers, astrologists, musicians and artists used the spacious terraces to revive their souls and rediscover themselves in the faint moonlight.
